Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E)’s 10,000 Mile Undergrounding Program is one of the largest utility infrastructure initiatives in the nation, moving approximately 10% of PG&E’s overhead electrical system underground across a70,000-square-mile service area serving 15 million people. The program aims to dramatically reduce wildfire risk and weather-related outages while lowering long-term maintenance costs. Logic provides embedded program management and project controls support, managing day-to-day operations that keep thousands of concurrent work orders moving through the system.

Challenge

Managing thousands of concurrent work orders across a massive geographic territory creates significant operational complexity. Data discrepancies between systems blocked contractor operations, preventing general contractors and subcontractors from receiving authorized work, scheduling field activities, and completing construction on schedule. Coordinating permits across multiple jurisdictions while maintaining program momentum required systematic tracking and proactive expiration management. PG&E also needed to process and clear over 5,000 backlogged applications in their Accelerated New Business Pilot program while continuing to scale undergrounding operations.
